The Cisco Chain Riparian Owners Association performs two types of aquatic surveys- one which primarily looks for invasive species and one which seeks to catalog and inventory all plant types currently in a lake. This second type of survey is called a Point-Intercept (PI) survey. These PI surveys are displayed on this page. This information is useful because it allows us to detect subtle changes in plant ecology over time, which is an excellent indicator of a given lake's overall health. If we can detect a decline in plant population over time, we can then work towards remediating whatever is causing the damage. A second benefit to this information is that it helps fishermen decide where to fish! These maps will be updated approximately every five years.
